Quillorama

Quillorama:

My name is Nicole and I love to make and sell all kinds of crafts. Ever

since my mum taught me how to knit, crochet and embroider, I have loved

making things. I have moved on quite a bit since I was a little girl and I

now enjoy working with different media. I would therefore classify myself

as a multi-crafter. I am self-taught except for the things my mum taught

me when I was young. I have a background in science/engineering and

was working in a highly stressful job with long hours that started to take a

toll on family life. In the middle of 2019, I took a leap of faith and left my

job to concentrate on my health and family. I have been crafting ever

since and would love to continue to do this. I started out with making

personalised greeting cards, from the simple to the more elaborate fancy

folds. This paper craft quickly led me to the art of quilling and origami.

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of

paper that are rolled, shaped and glued together to create decorative

designs. Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper into decorative

shapes and figures. It was my love of quilling that led me to my business

name : Quillorama.

In the last few months I have moved on to knotting and braiding

techniques such as macramé and kumihimo. I take a great interest in our

environment and I love creating more sustainable and/or eco-friendly items

using the above techniques.

I am sure the future will lead me to plenty more crafts to try, so keep an

eye out for my creations.
